Being on the receiving end of a compliment is great – it makes us feel valued, respected and builds self-confidence. What feels even better is giving compliments because it feels good to make others feel good. The best thing about compliments is – they are free! So sprinkle those bad boys round like confetti. But remember – only genuine, heartfelt compliments count.

The great unknown can be scary, but it can also be amazingly rewarding. When Jess and I started talking (seriously) about starting a fashion label it was a huge step for us. Whether it is travelling, changing jobs or moving to a different country, find the courage to say ‘yes’ – it might be the start of an incredible journey.

While confidence is essential for getting ahead in life, there is NOTHING worse than over confidence. Staying humble doesn’t mean you can’t be assertive, proud and the life of the party (if you want to be). Yes, you might be a high achieving girl boss who gets s**t done but that doesn’t mean you’re better than everyone else. Did you know that if you surround yourself with people who are energetic, positive and generally have a good attitude towards life, it will start rubbing off on you? In his Huffington Post blog, Keeping Good Company, Leon Logothetis quotes Jim Rohn: ‘You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with’. So what we are basically saying is – stop spending time with anyone who is bringing you down. Instead, surround yourself with people who make you feel excited about life! Get rid of all of those negative nellys and build genuine relationships with people who truly care about you.

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life and become stressed about things that – quite frankly – really aren’t that important. Is it worth having a panic attack over how dirty the kitchen floor is or that you forgot to iron your dress for work? (if its an inBLACK. dress it will look amazing anyway!) Trust us, its not. Building things into your daily or weekly life that help to remind you not to sweat the small stuff and show appreciation for the amazing life you have and will make you a happier, more relaxed person. Take a few moments each day to remember who and what you are thankful for in life.

Its not like we need a reason to show our pets love and affection but there is now scientific proof that you should pat as many dogs as possible! (ok I might be exaggerating a little bit, but I’ll take any excuse to pat an adorable pooch). According to a 2010 study by Mindlab International ‘People felt more relaxed, more optimistic and less preoccupied with everyday concerns after spending time with their dog’. BRB – going to buy a puppy now. For health reasons.
So, which ones are you going to commit to?
